Australian Match Rifle Association

Competition Entry & Grading Guidelines

  1. All competitors entering a Match Rifle event will automatically be included in ‘Open’ class.

  2. The competition committee may elect to organize a ‘Reserve Grade’ competition with specifically reserved trophies/badges. If the event provides for a Reserve Grade, then the lower 1/3 (one third) of entrants as placed on the current Grading List will be eligible to compete for  Reserve Grade prizes.

  3. Grading scores will be awarded to each competitor based on their Grand Aggregate Score when taken as a percentage of the Grand Aggregate Score of the event winner (excluding centre count). Event winners will be awarded a grading score of 100 (100%) for the event.

  4. The following competitions attract grading points for the purposes of the current Grading List.
    • The most recent two (2) National Championships
    • The most recent two (2) State Championships for each State which holds a Championship.
    • Any new Prize Meetings of a standard deemed eligible by the AMRA Executive Committee provided they are within the last twenty four (24) months).

  5. An individual’s current Grade Point is calculated as the average of their four (4) highest grading scores awarded for events covered by the current Grading Period.

  6. Grading scores will not be awarded to a competitor when they have an incomplete shoots, i.e. where an entrant retires from event or does not complete all ranges.

  7. In case of new competitors without scores or previous competitors with no or insufficient scores in the grading period, then the executive of the Australian Match Rifle Association Ltd or relevant State Match Rifle Association/Club will decide the grading on an assessment of the deemed ability of the competitor.

  8. The AMRA Ltd shall appoint a grading officer who will prepare and maintain a Master Average Register of all relevant competitions.

  9. The AMRA Ltd executive may regrade a competitor but not during a competition, if their actual performance is markedly different from their Grade Point.
